Abstract:
Many claims are made for the potential for IT to transform healthcare. Claims include the full span of cost reductions and quality improvements. Plenty of case studies exist – but what about larger scale studies? How well supported are the claims of returns on investment? In this talk, Nick Beard will review the existing evidence, and provide new insights based on two years of in-depth econometric research which used a multi-year panel of data to explore the relationships between IT investment and hospital performance, in terms of both cost and quality.
