Abstract:

Hawthorne Medical’s successful EMR adoption in 2006 leaves us with a learning opportunity in how to manage one of the most important stakeholder relationships in EMR adoption. Through interviews and framework analysis, this case study has identified three key physician challenges: “Fear of Technology”, “Concerns about Workflow and Time”, and “Lack of Physician Motivation and Incentives” and the business and information systems strategies that Hawthorne Medical used to overcome them.
