Informatics is an “Ahead of the Curve” Profession

An interesting article appears in US News & World Report in December, 2007 about ten careers deemed “ahead of the curve,” i.e., those that are relatively new, are already viable and promise further growth. One of the ten careers listed is health informatics specialists.

The article drills down into what informaticians do, although it unfortunately confuses health information management and pure information technology with informatics, which includes those two and more. The article also has the name of our institution, Oregon Health & Science University, incorrectly listed as University of Oregon Medical Center.
